PAN-AFRICAN PRODUCTIVITY ASSOCIATION
(PAPA) BOARD MEETING HELD BETWEEN THE 11TH -12TH MARCH,
2010 IN JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
The
Centre participated at the PAPA Board Meeting held from the 11th -
12th March 2010 at the Belvedere Hotel Midrand,
South Africa. Highlights of the issues discussed at the meeting include the
following:
ü PAPA membership is still
small. Board noted the need for extra effort in implementing the membership
drive campaign.
ü On NPC and APO
partnerships, board expressed concern on the exclusion of Nigeria from the programmes.
ü PAPA website must be
revamped, it should be a priority project after the June invoicing.
ü On the Korean
Productivity Centre proposal, the board accepted its contents and approved that
the president sign it. Specific areas of collaboration to be
developed with time frames of the secretariat immediately.
ü Board noted with pleasure
the adoption of the productivity Agenda for Africa by the Heads of Government
of AU member countries. The proposed AU workshop on “Improving Productivity of
Africa’s Public Sector now to hold in September/October 2010 instead of May
2010, with planning still ongoing.
ü A three year Strategic
Plan (2011-2013) was developed, with key broad areas identified. Further
detailed works on the projects are to be done by NPC Nigeria and Kenya
Productivity Centre before the end of June 2010.
ü PAPA’s invitation to attend
the APO Governing Body Meeting from 20th – 22nd April
2010 in Malaysia was accepted with the President mandated to attend.
