STUDY TOUR OF INDIA MASS EMPLOYMENT GENERATION PROGRAMME AND RURAL EMPLOYMENT GUARANTEE SCHEME BY THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF LABOUR
AND PRODUCTIVITY 11TH-15TH JANUARY 2010
The Honourable Minster of Labour and Productivity graciously extended invitation to the
following from the National Productivity Centre, as part of his entourage to India for the above study tour.
They are:
(i) Arch. Innocent Agbo - Chairman, Governing Council of the National Productivity Centre
(ii) Paul M. Bdliya, Ph.D - Director-General, National Productivity Centre
(iii) Chief (Dr)Arohunmolase Bailey - Former Chairman, National Productivity Order of Merit Award Committee (NPOMAC).
Other members of the delegation included other Chief Executives of the other parastatals
and some senior officials of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
The NPC team used the opportunity to interact with the management
of the India Productivity Council. Discussions were held on the need for mutual assistance, collaboration and partnership in
various Productivity Improvement Strategies and programmes considered critical to both organisations.
Some of these areas are:
(a) Productivity Measurement/Index
Nigeria has been involved in this programme for a long time but will
gladly appreciate the expertise of the Indian NPC especially in getting an appropriate model for measuring productivity in the various
sectors of the economy.
(b) Productivity Improvement Programmes (PIP) in Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs)
Both organizations can gain in the area of exchange of officers for transfer of skills.
(c) Capacity
Building (Human Resources)
India can assist Nigeria in training
of NPC (Nigeria) officers in the training institute in Chennai, India – Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity (AIP).
Efforts will be made to identify the relevant courses for which we in NPC Nigeria would need assistance and then make our request
through the Honourable Minister.
As an immediate fall out from the visit, the Centre has subscribed to the India Productivity Council
News letter. The NPC Nigeria will also send copies of its Productivity News to NPC India.
