Dear Visitors,
There is a growing anxiety in today’s world about Productivity, Quality and Competitiveness. This is so because
of their role in improving quality of life and living standards of a people / nation. In a broad sense, productivity is pertinent
to all disciplines and sub-disciplines concerned with the identification, quantitative description, evaluation and control of functional
systems or purposeful activities.
At the national level, it is the ability to produce more economic goods and services. Productivity increases at the national level, would, in the long run, be reflected in the standard of living of the people. In Nigeria,
the establishment of the National Productivity Centre in 1987 underscores not only government’s realization of the importance of productivity
as a means of promoting social progress and strengthening the economic foundation of human wellbeing, but its will to encourage higher
productivity.
The task of imbibing a productivity culture in every Nigerian- which is the Centre’s vision- requires the study
of productivity and its anatomy for a vivid perception of the many variables involved in and required to be dealt with for the enhancement
of productivity. Thus, after two decades of conducting studies / researches, promoting productivity, building capacities and implementing
productivity improvement programmes, the Centre has amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience in productivity improvement, especially
as it relates to
We therefore, not only intend to use this channel to inform you on the Centre and its activities, but
to also share this knowledge and experience with individuals, organizations, institutions and industries in Nigeria and beyond.
