NPC OBSERVES THE 52ND SESSION OF THE GOVERNING BODY ASIAN PRODUCTIVITY ORGANISATION
The Director-General of the National Productivity
Centre (NPC) – Paul M. Bdliya, Ph.D and the Chairman Governing Council of National Productivity Centre (NPC), Arc. Innocent Agbo attended
the 52nd Governing Body meeting (GBM) of the Asian Productivity Association (APO) held at the Royal Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia
April 20th - 22nd 2010 on the invitation of the Association.
The duo participated in the meeting as observers. The APO invited NPC Nigeria in her capacity as the 1st Vice President and a founding and active member of the Pan African Productivity
Association (PAPA).
The President and the 2nd Vice President of PAPA (Dr. Krishnallall Coonjan from NPCC Mauritius and Engr.
Martin Nzomo from NPC Kenya) were also invited by the APO as observers at the GBM.
The meeting was highly successful. 19
of the member countries of APO were in attendance and the proceedings went very well.
The President of PAPA addressed the meeting
on behalf of PAPA member countries. He thanked the APO for inviting PAPA President and the Vice Presidents to the GBM and for
the support and partnership of APO and PAPA in the area of Capacity Development of PAPA member states. This is specifically
in the Basic and Advanced Courses in Productivity Practicing (BCPP and ACPP). The PAPA President also thanked the Japanese government
for funding the project. He further pleaded for continued funding and support of this partnership by the Japanese government. The benefit of the APO/PAPA partnership has been tremendous to PAPA member States since it started in 2006. Each PAPA member
state can now boast of 10 -15 trained productivity practitioners in BCPP and ACPP embarked upon since 2007. The PAPA president
informed the meeting of the proposed plan of the African Union (AU) to embark on Continental Productivity Movement with PAPA as the
implementing agency. PAPA therefore needs APO at this critical time to successfully deliver the Productivity Movement Agenda.
The
four observers from PAPA had other useful bilateral discussions with Japan, Korea and Taiwan on areas of possible partnerships.
The
Director-General and the Chairman have since returned to Nigeria
